Malta-based digital game studio YouRun LTD has launched its game Warshmallows on leading computer game platform Steam.
The studio received support from Malta Enterprise and Gaming Malta for its multiplayer platform fighter game.
Congratulating the studio on its launch, Malta Enterprise held up the project as “not only an important milestone for the company but also another accomplishment for the wider digital games ecosystem in Malta.”
With its offering, YouRun LTD, which was set up in 2018 and employs an international team, says it aims to mix the casual gaming axes to E-Sports and animated series to create a new combined consumer experience.
Warshmallows is a “multiplayer couch game” that “aims to bring back the fun of spending quality time with your family and friends.”
To do so, the player takes control of a “Warshmallow” with abilities like triple jump, dash and time slowing.
The studio described every match of the game as “an epic test of skills, speed, and reflex.”
Warshmallows has already been recognised as a fan favourite, being voted the Nordic Games Discovery Contest 2020 People’s choice award.
Along with Malta Enterprise, Gaming Malta was thanked for its support by YouRun LTD in the game’s credits.
Gaming Malta is a non-profit set up by the Maltese Government and Malta Gaming Authority to “promote Malta as a centre of excellence in the digital and remote gaming sector globally”.
